And I would say out loud "really you're going to put up with that?!" If a book can make you feel by going through a ton emotions, it's worth the read. There was serveral times in the book I wanted to reach out and slap someone. The love story isn't over the top or corny, while some points to angsty, it was sweet and some what realistic. I had hoped that the story would turn and give me what I wanted, but honestly that was just a small portion. One would be the hope for something more. After some thought about it, it boiled down to some different things. Positive side: Why am I drawn so much to this series? In all honestly its not wonderfully written or extremely original (as all the orginal ideas were never fully explored). (As always I will try not to post any spoilers) Ok I have to just start with I did lose a nights sleep for this book, with that being said let say some good things and some disappointing things.

There were no surprises in the case at all and one can pretty much guess who the guilty party might have been from the very first time the name came up. And the rest of the time, Kassandra was either called to the scene, stumbled onto it, or was dragged into it. If I recall correctly, it was just one time. :) Which isn't to say that there was a lot of investigating going on. On the other hand, her werewolf-y sense of smell is uncanny, and is undoubtedly her "secret" investigative weapon of choice. But this gift rarely came into play, and wasn't much help at all in figuring out the good guys from the bad guys, or even, what two alluring ladies' intentions towards her were. She is also built up by the book to be something of an empath-someone who can sense other people's feelings. But on her very first investigative outing in the book, she drags someone armed to the teeth with her, lol. Kassandra is built up by the blurb to be a hotshot paranormal PI who likes to work alone. The result is, surprisingly, the opposite of what I expected. Also, the promise of a good crime story might mitigate somewhat the less-than-appealing romance. Its hard to dissociate blood and cold skin from death, Twilight notwithstanding. Paranormal stories involving vampires are my least favorite form of romantic fiction. By the way, I've followed a few recipes from top chefs based in Italy and I came away with the feeling that I was being punked. I kind of got my answer to the age old question as to why the Italians are so refined in their culture but also are so Mesozoic in some of their ways. I was most interested in England, France, Ireland, Italy and the Middle East mainly. By the way The Way of Kings is that book that is perfect in each of its page. I hurried my way through it, but if it worked for The Way of Kings, it ought to be good enough for any chunky book. The words in it are meant to be absorbed over a longer time than it took me. LoTR doesn't count because it is not a genuinely single work.īack to The Age of Faith. There is only one book above 1000 pages of my knowledge that has FUN stamped all over it in each page, and that book, is not LoTR. For you see, this book was enormous, both in its physicality and its scope. This means that I blitzed my way through this book. Dr Beck is on the run while being hunted down from all quarters as he fights against all odds to find Elizabeth. The book opens with David Beck and his young wife making their annual pilgrimage to David’s family’s secluded lake property to carve a notch on a special tree on the anniversary of their first kiss. Not far from the chaos, two men torture and murder someone gruesomely under orders from their wealthy boss. Brief Summary of Book: I Will Find You by Harlan Coben. At that very juncture Beck gets an anonymous email with a link that suddenly broadcasts the live feed of his wife ! Is she really back from the dead? The investigators on the other hand suddenly become hell bent on cornering Dr Beck for not only the murder of his wife but those unidentified men too. But all that topples when two men are found murdered and buried near the same lake where his wife was abducted. Unable to leave behind that dreadful night, he moves along a mundane life for eight long years reliving the horrors of that fateful night over and over again. The story is about David Beck who lost the love of his life, Elizabeth, in a kidnapping and murder. This new edition reprints the first, classic English translation. The novel is also a timeless political allegory in which Dumas, drawing on the violence and crimes of history, makes his case against tyranny and puts all his energies into creating a symbol of justice and tolerance: the fateful tulipa negra. The novel - a deceptively simple story - is set in Holland in 1672, and weaves the historical events surrounding the brutal murder of John de Witte and his brother Cornelius into a tale of romantic love. In The Black Tulip (1850), the shortest of Dumas's most famous tales, the real hero is no Musketeer, but a flower.
The problem is, Mercy has a LOT of issues with the accuracy, implications and conclusions of Art’s pages – and takes it upon herself to scribble corrections and observations in the margins. In any case, having discovered the manuscript, Mercy naturally wants to read Art’s memoir – and she turns out to be a major character in his reflections. To add to the complexity, that we can see the manuscript at all is because the memoir was found by Art’s oldest friend, Mercy Brown.
